Carol AllenChair

Carol Allen was born in Elton, LA and began her career in education as a high school teacher. She later served as Elementary school principal and Gifted/Talented Consultant in the Bellevue Public Schools, Nebraska. After completing her Ed D from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, she became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education Management at the University of South Carolina. From there Carol moved to New Orleans to take the job of Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction (NOPS), which she held for two years. She then became Associate Superintendent of the Elementary Schools in the NOPS until 1985 when she resigned to move to France, where she lived for 23 years. In France she served on the board and as board president of Marymount School of Paris. She also served on the board of the American School of Paris, and consulted with international schools abroad in curriculum planning and evaluation. Upon returning to New Orleans in 2008, Carol worked part time for the Early Childhood and Family Learning Foundation. She then served on the board and as board president of a French Quarter Advocacy non-profit organization, Vieux Carre Property Owners, Residents and Associates.(VCPORA) She volunteers at St. Jude Community Center as a GED instructor and is on the board of the Louisiana Landmarks Society. She's happy to serve on the board of a dynamic educational institution like the International High School of New Orleans.

Shontell ThomasVice-Chair

Shontell Thomas is a native of New Orleans, LA. She graduated from Isidore Newman School. She completed her undergraduate and postgraduate training at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She taught as a high school Spanish teacher before pursuing her career in medicine. She currently works as an Physician with the Ochsner Medical Center.

Mariska RoneyTreasurer

Mariska is a native of Plaquemine, Louisiana. After graduating from LSU in 2004, she moved to New Orleans to begin her professional career as a certified public accountant. Mariska is a Tax Managing Director at KPMG specializing in closely-held family businesses. She also proudly serves on the LSU Foundation Professional Advisory Committee.

Stacie RetzlaffSecretary

Stacie is from Monroe, LA and is a graduate of what was then Northeast Louisiana University where she received a Bachelors in Public Relations. She moved to New Orleans in 1990 and has worked for the State of Louisiana for over 25 years. She and her husband Jon have two sons, Alex and Nicolas, both of whom will graduate from IHSNO. Stacie feels strongly that education and academic success is essential for all. She believes in the future of IHSNO and the International Baccalaureate Program and is devoted to ensuring that its students have a high-quality education.

Harry BlumenthalMember

Harry Blumenthal is a native New Orleanian. He is a graduate of Isidore Newman School and Yale University. After serving in the US Navy he returned to New Orleans in 1968 to join his family's textile business. He became President and CEO in 1988 and continued in that position until 2009.Since his return to New Orleans he has been involved with a variety of civic organizations. He was Vice Chairman of the Louisiana Board of Ethics and The New Orleans Vieux Carre Commission. He has also served as Chair/President of the International High School of New Orleans , Isidore Newman School, Temple Sinai, The Metropolitan Area Committee, The Bureau of Governmental Research, The Greater New Orleans Foundation, and CABL ( Council for a Better Louisiana). He continues to serve on the Board of the International High School of New Orleans with great enthusiasm and much pride.

Amer TufailMember

Amer Tufail is the product of international schools in Switzerland (The American School in Switzerland) and Saudi Arabia (Saudi Arabian International School – Riyadh). He is the founder and principal of GreenPoint Engineering, a consulting firm that specializes in the delivery of public infrastructure projects, with a focus on water resources and sustainability. He is also a diplomate and the state representative of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists. He and his wife Maggie have four boys and live in New Orleans.

Blair SchillingMember

Blair is originally from Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated from the
University of Kentucky with a degree in marketing, and upon graduation she
worked in public relations for a Fortune 500 company. In 2010, she moved
to New Orleans to attend law school. After law school, she began working
as an attorney at Fishman Haygood, LLP. Her practice spans a variety of
subject matters, including class actions, coastal land loss and industrial
and environmental accidents, public bid law disputes, securities fraud
litigation, and contract disputes. Blair also proudly serves on the board
of directors for the Association for Women Attorneys and the Independent
Women's Organization of New Orleans.
