New Orleans is an epicenter of corporate international business, and the site of the original World Trade Center. With one of the largest ports in North America, New Orleans trades extensively with China, Europe and South America. To succeed in the 21st Century, students must gain the skills to navigate our highly globalized world, such as cultural competency, foreign language fluency, and knowledge of international politics. The International Business Academy at IHS not only prepares students for college, but also prepares students to enter the worlds of engineering, international trade, and finance.
The International Business Academy is a rigorous college preparatory program that equips students for the world of business in a globalized world. Students will be enrolled in Advanced Placement (AP) courses, language programs, either direct instruction or immersion programs, and courses in entrepreneurial skills, politics, and technology.
Business leaders from the community will work with students throughout their time at IHS to aid in their development as young professionals.
Students will spend afternoons observing and learning from business professionals while gaining knowledge of the internal workings of business
These hands-on learning experiences will push students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations while teaching business skills such as communication, business management, and human relations. Students will gain job experience while still enrolled in high school, strengthening their resume beyond that of the average student.
