Foreign Language Competition

A group of IHS students traveled to Southern University and participated in their annual Foreign Language Competition. Our students placed in the following categories:

Spanish

2nd place – Joshua Young

3rd place – Oscar Garcia

4th place – Miguel Alfar

French

2nd place – Lucia Hughes

Annual Math Fair

Seven of our students competed at the Xavier annual math fair: Atticus Wilklow, Oscar Hernandez, Oscar Arita, Taylor Osbey, Bianchi Hughes, Mia Guillot and Andrew Roberts.

In the level one division (algebra I and geometry), Andrew Roberts won first place (and a $50 VISA giftcard)!

There were only three teams competing in the math bowl team competition, so we made a last minute decision to join (although it was for teams in grades 9-12). And….IHS won the entire math bowl! The students who participated in that event were Andrew, Atticus, Bianchi, Oscar A, and Oscar H. We received an $80 giftcard for the team.

The students had great behavior and sportsmanship.

Please congratulate them this week!

Mardi Gras Fundraising!

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your continued support of your child and the International High School of New Orleans. Throughout the school year you have shown your commitment to giving your child the best possible education. As you know, it is customary for schools to hold fundraising activities to raise funds for school-related expenses. When discussing several alternative fundraising options at our school, the idea of selling food during Mardi Gras became the most popular. This year we are happy to announce our Mardi Gras Annual Fundraising Event. A committee of parents and administrative have been planning this event for a few months and are now ready to implement the final phase of this event.

This is the New – New Orleans” these words began and ended the welcoming address given by the Anthony Amato, director of the International School during the “Open House” held on August 17th at the Contemporary Arts Center in the heart of New Orleans. The new school’s instructors shared with parents and students the different programs that will be taught during the school year. It was very gratifying to see Hispanics present at the event.
The International School of New Orleans is a public charter school, focusing on International trade; currently the school is accepting applications for ninth and tenth grade. The academic curriculum foundation is rigorous in the study programs that promote foreign languages, technology and international business classes. Extracurricular programs offered (after school) art, music and sports.
