International High School of New Orleans

The International Business Program

The International Business Program provides the academic rigor necessary to enhance student performance.  In the 21st century demand for students who understand intercultural relationships will only grow. Students exhibiting a mastery of business and foreign language proficiency will be highly sought after for placement in both college and career. For students to succeed in the international arena they must have excellent writing, reading, mathematics and communication skills.  With quality instruction these skills can be developed in high school courses such as English, History, Math and Foreign Language.

Curriculum

In addition to the District core curriculum, we will also offer students the opportunity to learn about standard business practices, ethics and economics.  International Business skills will be taught in the global context.  Students will be exposed to international trade laws and logistics, transactions between countries and investments in foreign markets.  They will acquire knowledge of other cultures which is crucial to being an international business person.  Proficiency in a second language, such as French or Spanish, will be encouraged, making students more appealing to prospective employers.  The International Business Program will tentatively offer the following courses that when successfully completed along with other state requirements can lead to Industry Based Certification in the areas of Business, Management and Administration:

      1. Accounting l & II
      2. Entrepreneurship
      3. Foreign Language (French or Spanish)
      4. Business Communications
      5. International Finance/Economics
      6. International Studies
      7. Education for Careers
      8. Business Law
