World Language Programs

One language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way.” Frank Smith

The ability to communicate in more than one language is essential to the concept of an international education that promotes multilingualism and intercultural understanding, both of which are central to the IB’s mission.  The study of additional languages in the MYP provides students with the opportunity to develop insights into the features, processes and craft of language and the concept of culture, and to realize that there are diverse ways of living, behaving, and viewing the world.

At IHSNO we value the diversity of culture in our school, and we collaborate to organize multi-cultural events throughout the year. The purpose of these events is to motivate students to learn and appreciate cultures different from their own and to pass their country’s culture along as well. The following events are planned to be celebrated this year:

National Hispanic Heritage Celebration – celebrated on Wednesday 10/7/2015

International Fall Fest – Friday 11/13/2015

The purpose of International Fall Fest is to expose students and staff to multi-cultural aspects of countries around the world and to celebrate the impacts of diversity, and it is also an exciting fundraising event for our school.

International Fall Fest will take place in our parking lot from 11:20 am to 3:15 pm on November 13, 2015. There will be delicious international foods, fun games, exciting contests, and live entertainments for everyone to enjoy. Tickets are on sale for $1 each starting on October 14.  ONLY TICKETS WILL BE ACCEPTED for foods, gifts, and games. We encourage everyone to purchase tickets in advance to avoid the line at the festival. We are asking all teachers, parents, and students to take this opportunity to support IHSNO.
