School Counselor Info

IHS Parents and Community:

Greetings! My name is Margaret Foley, and I have the honor of serving as the school counselor for IHS this year. I realize that this is an exciting and busy time for you and your child, so I wanted to take a moment to explain a little about how I am here to support you.

As the school counselor, my role encompasses 3 domains of support: academic, career/college, and personal/social. Here is some of what this includes:

Academic Support:

  • Schedule planning/Course selection
  • Graduation and other academic requirements
  • Coordination of testing (GEE, EOC)
  • Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) coordination
  • Student progress tracking and academic support

Career/College Support:

  • College planning and application support
  • AP and IB testing
  • Parent nights
  • College admissions and TOPS requirements
  • PLAN/ACT and PSAT/SAT coordination
  • Financial aid application and support
  • Coordination of college admissions representatives visiting IHS and college visits

Personal/Social Support:

  • Service learning coordination
  • Individual meetings with students as needed
  • Support for school adjustment/transition, family changes and any other concerns of students
  • Referrals available for long-term counseling and specific issues
  • Group support as needed
  • Education regarding personal/social issues

As a relatively new school community, I believe that we have a unique opportunity to learn together and grow as global citizens. I truly look forward to building a relationship with you. At anytime this year, please do not hesitate to contact me with questions, thoughts, or concerns. I can be reached by email, margaretfoley@ihsnola.org, or by calling the school. I am available for parent/student conferences as needed.

Sincerely,

Margaret Foley
